Canadian Hanoverian Society Announces Winners of the Annual Fritz Floto Awards

The Fritz Floto Award is given annually to the top jumper bred mare and top dressage bred mare completing their Mare Performance Test. To qualify the mares have to do their test at three to five years of age. The award is a beautiful pewter plate engraved with the owner’s name and the winning mare.

This year there were three mare performance test sites. At Parkwood Stables near Guelph, Ontario there were 10 mares who did the test on September 4th, followed by 7 mares doing the test on September 12th at South Lane Farm near Vankleek Hill, Ontario and three mares who did the test on September 12th at Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Alberta.

The clear winner of the best mare performance test by a dressage bred mare was Bellarina (Belissimo M/Sherlock Holmes). This four year old mare was also the winner of the mare show at South Lane Farm. The breeders and owners are Joe and Louise Palmer.

The winner of the best mare performance test by a jumper bred mare was Argentina (Avagon/Foxhunter) at Spruce Meadows. This three year old mare was bred and owned by George von Platen.

An honourable mention goes to the mare Cornelia (Cornet Obolensky/Foxhunter) who had the second highest score by the narrowest of margins. Her free jumping scores were 9.5/10. This mare is bred and owned by Christian Poshung.
