A tribute to the great Joe Selinger, may he rest in peace.

On January 29, Josef “Joe” Selinger passed away in Calgary at the age of 92 years. He was born at Rastatt, Ukraine, in 1923. Life led him to Germany from where he immigrated to Canada together with his wife and their three children. Two years later, he started building St. George’s Stable near Calgary/Alberta literally one fence post at a time. This year’s Breed Orientation Course will be held from June 20 – 25

This course is an in-depth learning experience, offering lectures on bloodlines in Hanover and on the Hanoverian breeding program. It includes visits to mare shows and at least one mare performance test, a visit to the State Stud at Celle and to the stallion performance testing station at Adelheidsdorf. Canadian Hanoverian Society Announces Winners of the Annual Fritz Floto Awards

The Fritz Floto Award is given annually to the top jumper bred mare and top dressage bred mare completing their Mare Performance Test. To qualify the mares have to do their test at three to five years of age. The award is a beautiful pewter plate engraved with the owner’s name and the winning mare.
